A landmark ruling in Britain's Supreme Court could allow hundreds of insurance claims by relatives of workers who died after exposure to asbestos. The court rejected the insurers' argument they are not liable to pay compensation under employers' liability insurance if the illness occurred outside the policy period. The decision could set a precedent for claims in Australia where, like Britain, the incidence of asbestos-related deaths is the highest in the world.
