Suggest newsbeyondblue - 'Over Bloody Eighty'
Sun, 29th July 2012
In 2009, beyondblue invited Australians aged 80 and over to share their stories about positive ageing.
Why? Because a lot of people incorrectly tend to think that the older you get, the more depressed you become – when we know that this isn’t necessarily so. Research shows that exercise, seeing friends, family, going out, having a good diet and staying positive all play a big role in helping improve people’s well‑being.
The campaign aims to dispel myths about ageing and to help encourage others to live active and healthy lives into their 80s and beyond.
The response to the campaign was overwhelming.
Take a look at this marvellous collection of personal stories from older Australians.
