Hi My question is as follows. I have a HP pavilion model p6120a and a asus monitor and run windows vista home premium, I am not sure if I have service pack 2 or not, My problem is that I cant turn on windows defender, I had that running as long as it has been there, but lately It will not turn on.

When I click on my desk icon a screen says windows defender turnedv of, when I click on turn on and open windows defender, My mouse wheel turns and I wait after wich an error screen comes up error 0x800705b4

and something about, time expired cannot open.

Any solution to this problem?, I run windows security system and everything else seems to be fine. Regards Albert

Try installing the latest definition updates using the instructions found here.

Good luck!

Find your page hard to follow. How do I ask a simple question - new thread?? not clear at all.

My question is I'm running Windows 7 low down version & am trying to use Microsoft Outlook. I have the icon on the taskbar down the bottom. Single click produces nothing; double click produces nothing. What needs to be done to fire up Outlook from the taskbar?

Every other application launches from the taskbar on a single click. Puzzled!

Hello Albert
you may want to upgrade Defender to Microsoft Security Essentials (free from Microsoft) at the following link. It will give you more protection than Defender currently does.
windows.microsoft.com/mse

Hi I have a database of previously sent emails somewhere in microsoft outlook that I want to place in exel and filter to resend as bulk emails.

Cant find the bloody things.

Where can I find them. They are not saved contacts. If I open new and type in 'a' about 100 a addresses pop up on a small box but I cant "select all" and have to cut and paste one at a time.

These are saved as temp files but it is difficult to extract them.

I would make a new email out of them, then copy from the To field into Excel.

In Excel, if the email addresses are in field A1, then in field B1 type this:  =CONCATENATE(A1,";") and press Enter.

You will then be able to build up a list that you can repaste back into a new Outlook message which will be separated by semi-colons that are needed to delineate email addresses.

Hope this helps.

Once security essentials is installed it disables "Defender in Vista and windows 7" on an XP or ME O/S it will unistall it. Hope this helps all.

Keep getting logged off whenever I close the forum.

I dont log off just close with the red cross top right of screen.

Never happened with other forums.

Is there a reason for this?

How can Windows 7 be modified to prevent having to select the single user before resuming computing after hibernating?

Hi To all geeks from one trying to be a geek. Wish you well.

Am about to purchase a Laptop, but I need to install if possible dual systems

a) Windows 7 Home  AND  b) Windows 7 Home Chinese Version (genuine)

MSY say's this possible, JB say's it cannot be done, and be wary of MSY.

Has anyone any suggestions?

Thanks.

Roy

Hello, Dakota.

I'm a long way from knowing a lot about computers, but I can't see why you can't install a duel system if you partition the hard drive.
