If you are right handed, you will tend to chew your food on your right side. If you are left handed, you will tend to chew your food on your left side.

A Boeing 747 can, in fact, land with one engine operating, and even more remarkably, it can land with no engines operating!!  If it has sufficient altitude when all engines fail, it can make the runway but some very skillful flying is necessaryto do so.  Modern jets have a similar glide ratio (distance horizontally for a given altitude) to many gliders/sailplanes.

The rule of thumb is "thousands of feet X 4 expressed as miles = the gliding distance available".  Therefore, from 40,000 feet (about 13 Kms) it can glide 40 X 4 = 160 nautical miles.  That's in still air, more with a tailwind and less with a headwind.

It might not be useless if you are a passenger on the aircraft. Then again if you are a passenger there is nothing you can do about it anyway!

Useless reply to a useless fact.smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif

According to some any landing in a fixed wing aircraft is a controlled crash, if you are in a rotary wing (helicopter) the same applies only more so!

In the story Little Red Riding Hood.  When the Big Bad wolf first comes across Little red riding hood on her way to Grandma's, races ahead eats grandma, puts on her clothes and goes threw the whole What big eyes etc, why didn't he just eat her in the first place and save all the drama smiley-wink.gif
