I'm a fan of Deer Hunter. Its based on the arcade game of hunting deer but it turns your iphone into 3D woodland and you can aim at the unsuspecting animals. A bit of fun!

I had no idea that this existed! thanks mate. I have now also downloaded a cheap knockoff called 'score my rack', which isn't what it first sounds like but it is meant to be like deer hunter. I'll let you know how it goes.
I would mention to you all to try out "Angry Birds' - which also isn't what it sounds like but hopelessly addictive - so don't try it.... unless you have a couple of hours a day spare for a couple of weeks.

Oh .... it turns out that 'score my rack' is an app for real dear hunters... not virtual ones..

Some other practical and useful ones:
1) tramTracker: Out for dinner and wondering when your next/last tram is coming? Set up your favorite routes and stops and keep an eye on your transportation vehicles! Also good for those who procrastinate and want to spend just that one more minute at home. No more wasting time sitting at the tram stop! Huzzah!
2) Consume: use to track your mobile phone, broadband, wireless internet usage (as well as lots of other kinds of usage).
3) PWAU (Pocket Weather Australia): Good weather forecasting app. Only iron shirts once a week like me? Then look ahead to the week and see just how many you really have to iron! Nobody wants to iron more shirts than they have to, amiright?!
I could tell you my absolute favorite app but.. well... I would have to make you sign an NDA.

As a Melbourne public transport user I find the 'Metlink' app useful on my iPhone. It has all the current timetables, kept up to date, and you can set it for your favourite routes and stops. It covers all modes of transport - train, tram, and bus including Nightrider if you are out that late. I also use 'TramTracker' occasionally, but my main mode of transport is by train.
As a keen photographer I use 'Light Meter' which gives spot readings using the iPhone camera. You can set shutter speed, aperture, or ISO and it will tell you the other two parameters instantly. If you are a point'n'shoot digicam user, then this is probably of no interest to you.
As an amateur genealogist I use 'Ancestry'. It links automatically to the ancestry.com.au web site and I can see my entire family tree (about 2,000) on my iPhone. This is particularly useful when I am standing in the middle of a cemetery or I am in a government records office and I want to see if a particular person is related.
And finally, as a follower of AFL football, I love to use 'Footy Live' which gives real-time updates of scores in all matches, plus a lot of statistical information and the year's fixture and ladder.

hi,
I don't really know what an Iphone or Ipad actually are. Don't know what apps are either. I wonder just when the world took a u-turn and I fell off?
Cheers,
Dan

Hi guys, I went to a meeting on Android at Ivanhoe, Victoria on Wednesday. They are interested in all aspects of the Android OS which is included in most modern portable devices such as phones, pda's and Ipad copies although not Apple devices. Being an ex programmer, I am now looking at the software (Java) with the view of creating some aps, so will come back later to see what type of aps (not games) people want. If there is anyone out there who is interested in this project, I would be happy to get together later to swap ideas. Cheers, Alan S

'The BioDigital Human is an HTML5 bases platform for medicine and healthcare. Using 3-D, Web-GL visualization the BioDigital Human serves as an interactive tool for medical students to access complex human anatomy in a simple web browser.'
Personally I think this is a brilliant idea. But unfortunately you need a relatively modern computer (no older than a few years) to be able to take advantage of this app.
To know if your computer will support this 3D app click here: http://www.biodigitalhuman.com/default.html or here http://get.webgl.org. If you see the spinning cube you’re in business.
To get it, go to the Chrome Webstore https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/home and then in the search panel type biohuman ‘biodigital human’, without the quotation marks.

To Jeremy76. That was really awesome. Thanks for the info. My current interests revolve on how we sense the world around us. Our five senses do not give a clear picture - merely a representation of what our brain expects as input. This cuts down a lot on processing time but the downside is that we often get a false impression of what is around us - hence stage magicians can easily fool us with their tricks. I was thinking of something along those lines. Any suggestions? Regards, AlanS
