Sitting around with nothing to do and no purpose in life? I work for an organisation called Easy Care Gardening Inc and we are looking for new volunteers. Our volunteers work in teams in the gardens of the frail aged and people with a disability on a pension. They weed, prune, mulch and make gardens safe and tidy and "easy care" so that people are able to remain in their own home. Volunteering is known to improve people's mental health - working to help others makes us feel good. Volunteers working for Easy Care Gardening meet and have morning or afternoon tea with the (usually) elderly person they are helping and can really see what a difference their work is making to someone's life. The work is outdoors and physical and our volunteers will report an improvement in their physical health from the time spent outdoors. Working alongside other volunteers once a week and becoming part of a team doing meaningful work - it is all good! Many volunteers report that it is a great way to meet others in their community who they might not otherwise have met - one volunteer might be a university student, another a stay at home mum and another a retired bank manager but everyone is equal as gardeners. Great friendships are formed and there is no need to be an expert - come and learn about gardening on the job! Phone 02 9983-1644 or go to www.easycaregardening.org.au

Come and volunteer with Easy Care Gardening, a gardening service for the frail aged and people with a disability on a pension. Teams of volunteer gardeners weed, prune, mulch and make gardens safe and tidy and "easy care" so that these people can remain in their own home.
